Workdays & Events
Work Days
Workdays are conducted most Tuesday mornings and usually at Gudmundson Wildlife Sanctuary. They last about two hours and often include a tour. Work gloves and boots are recommended for all work days. All other equipment and instruction is provided. Activities conducted include trail establishment and maintenance, mowing, invasive species removal, and prairie/pollinator plot management.
Workdays are conducted on both weekends and weekday through the year at our other properties based on stewardship needs and special projects.
If you would like to get involved, help and/or just be kept in the loop about volunteer opportunities, please call or text our Executive Director Angela Funk at 217-494-3115 or email her. You can also request to be added to our workday text notifications.

Prescribed burns are weather-dependent and are NOT scheduled in advance. Call Angela to be included on her e-mail list of volunteers interested in helping burn. Due to weather variability, there may be only a day’s notice prior to a burn being conducted. See our Stewardship page for more information
