First Meeting Without Dick Poynter

August 28th was our monthly board meeting and the first without our President, Dick Poynter. We started with a moment of silence, conducted business…so many updates that Dick would have been excited about. We adjourned the meeting with a toast to Dick with Old Wolf Oak IPA! He was a man of character and integrity! We are thankful to Dick’s family for choosing the Friends of the Sangamon Valley for his memorials. We have already received almost $3,000! Read more about Dick and how to donate below.

Dick Poynter was a great leader and conservationist, but more importantly he was a genuinely good man – friendly, helpful, enthusiastic, hardworking, and always quick to offer a cold IPA when the job was done. Dick was a long-time supporter, board member (current President), and volunteer of The Friends of the Sangamon Valley. The FOSV was better for having him around, and we are sure the same is true for every group he helped and every person he knew. Dick will be missed.

We are thankful to his family for choosing The Friends of the Sangamon Valley for his memorials. We are a non-profit land trust dedicated to protecting, preserving, and restoring natural areas within the Sangamon River Watershed.
